What LinkedIn is actually good at
Speed and reach. A well-timed post can reach thousands of people in days, and the algorithm rewards frequency — post often enough and you stay visible. The ceiling is depth: even a good post is skimmed in seconds, and most of what makes a founder credible — how they actually think, not just what they claim — doesn't fit in a caption.
What podcast guesting is actually good at
Depth and trust transfer. A forty-minute conversation lets a listener hear how you actually reason through a problem, not just your conclusion. It also borrows the host's credibility with their audience — a listener trusts you faster because they already trust the host who's vouching for you by having you on.
Where they compound each other
The founders who build authority fastest don't pick one — they use podcast appearances as source material for LinkedIn (clip the sharpest ninety seconds, post it, tag the show), and use LinkedIn to build the following that makes them a more attractive guest in the first place. Each makes the other work better.
If you can only do one right now
- Early stage, need visibility fast: LinkedIn first — it's faster to start and requires no one else's approval.
- Have one sharp, specific story: pitch a focused podcast instead of posting about it — the trust transfer from a good host is hard to replicate with a cold post.
LinkedIn compounds through frequency. Podcast guesting compounds through borrowed trust. Most founders eventually need both.
